Arrival
We arrived by van with some equipment for a work event. It was a nice crossing from France and we slept well in the cabins. My partner’s family (mum’s side) is Irish so we’d looked forward to the opportunity to come see some of them during our stay in Dublin.

I was also delighted to come back after my first visit which is a happy memory from long, long, ago.

First, we decided to do what Ireland is known for – green spaces. We saw a spot on the map which seemed promising, called ‘Ben of Howth’ and we set off on our way. A couple of hours later, we find ourselves having walked for 5 miles along some beautiful areas. If you go, be prepared for some steep inclines though!

We found ourselves back at harbour with a pair of hungry stomaches. Having decided to stay in Howth for food we found a lovely harbous-side fish restaurant (I have a sneaky assumption that they might all have been fish restaurants) and we picked well! A lovely meal (which also celebrated my birthday) and we left with the hunger banished.

The hotel we found, last minute, was a good 30 minutes out of the center of Dublin but it was cheap, good quality and had breakfast and a bath – what more could you ask for! We bought some bath salts and settled in for the night.

Next up was the obligatory visit to the Guinness “Storehouse” brewery. I don’t know if my interest is higher this time round (I am currently brewing my own beer!) but the quality of the tour seems a lot higher this time round. There was an academy to learn to pour a pint, an impressive waterfall and some immersive experiences.

With the touristy stuff out of the way, it was time to head to work. The event was being help at the Trinity College and was well situated. The event lasted three days and went off without any problem. Dentistry being a small world it was lovely to cross so many familiar faces.

Another event complete, we head to Northern Ireland before taking the ferry to Wales to get back in time for a Taylor Swift (tribute) concert.
